Fraudulent Alarm Company Calls

The IGA has been contacted by a member regarding a call they received from an unknown individual, purporting to be calling from an alarm company and falsely claiming to be associated with the RMI.

The member sensed that something wasn’t quite right and called the IGA to check, as they felt the caller was fishing to establish if the garage had an up-to-date alarm and CCTV system, possibly to see if the premises were vulnerable. The IGA has been unable to contact the caller or locate the company.

We would like to remind members to be cautious of unsolicited calls from organisations claiming to be associated with the IGA or RMI, or seeking potentially sensitive information.

All communication promoting third party offers through the IGA will always come directly from us. The IGA does not pass member details on to any third party organisation without the express permission of member.

If you are approached by any company that claims to be associated with the IGA or the wider RMI, and you haven’t asked for such an approach, please call our Member Services team on 01788 225 908 or email enquiries@rmif.co.uk.

You can also report any suspected fraudulent activity to Action Fraud via their website here or on 0300 123 2040.
