THE MAJORITY OF MOT TESTERS HAVE YET TO PASS THEIR ANNUAL TRAINING
The recent data received by the Independent Garage Association, (IGA), from the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), indicates that there are still around 50,000, of the 64,652 MOT testers in the UK, that have not yet completed their Annual Training.
With a little over 3 months remaining the IGA is urging MOT Stations to encourage their testers to complete their annual training before 31st March 2023 or face being struck off from testing.
MOT Testers failing to complete and pass the Annual Assessment by the deadline will immediately be suspended from testing and consequently will be unable to undertake any MOT Testing until they have completed and passed next years’ training and assessment, then completed a ‘demonstration test’ with a DVSA representative.
This year’s assessment pass mark remains at 80%, but due to the wide scope of the assessment syllabus we advise testers to ensure they complete their training and assessment as early as possible to accommodate potential re-takes.
