Over half of MOT Testers yet to complete their 2022/23 Annual Training
The latest figures received by the IGA from DVSA reveal that over 36,000 of the UK’s 64,652 MOT testers have not yet completed their 2022/23 MOT Annual Training.
Testers will be immediately suspended from testing if they do not meet their mandatory annual training requirements by 31 March 2023. With only seven weeks left, the IGA is urging MOT Stations to ensure their testers have completed their training and passed the annual assessment by the deadline, or they will immediately be suspended from testing.
To return to MOT testing, suspended testers will need to complete next years’ training and assessment, and pass a demonstration test with a DVSA representative.
This year’s assessment pass mark remains at 80%, but due to the wide scope of the assessment syllabus we advise testers to ensure they complete their training and assessment as early as possible to accommodate potential re-takes.

These range from face-to-face training at your garage premises or an RMI Academy venue, to remote learning either online or in a physical workbook.
