This award recognises an exceptional automotive apprentice who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to learning, personal development and their future career in the industry.
This award recognises an independent garage that has demonstrated significant and measurable progress in the development of it’s business.
Community Hero Award
This award recognises an independent garage that plays an active and positive role in it’s local community or wider area. Beyond providing vehicle servicing and repair, the winner will demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting others and making a meaningful contribution to the community.
This award recognises a garage that truly puts it’s customers first by creating a culture of exceptional customer service throughout the business. The winner will demonstrate a consistent commitment to understanding customer needs, resolving problems and going above and beyond to deliver a personal, professional and meaningful experience.
This award recognises a garage that has developed and delivered an effective marketing strategy to promote its business, engage with customers within it’s local community. The winner will demonstrate a clear understanding of it’s target audiences, use a range of marketing channels effectively and show how it’s marketing activity has contributed to business growth and success.
Training and Development Award
This award recognises a garage that has gone above and beyond to develop it’s people, creating a motivated, skilled and evolving workplace that benefits the business, it’s employees and the future of the automotive industry.
Independent Garage of the Year
(small, medium & large)
This award recognises an outstanding independent garage that demonstrates excellence across every area of it’s business, from customer service and workshop standards through to staff development, business performance and future investment.
Independent Used Car Retailer of the Year
This award recognises an independent used car dealer that demonstrates excellence across the entire business, from the customer’s first impression and vehicle presentation through to sales, aftercare and ongoing customer relationships.
This award recognises an independent garage that demonstrates outstanding expertise, capability and commitment to electric vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repair.
This award recognises an independent garage that has established a clear and successful specialist position within the automotive sector. The winner will demonstrate outstanding technical expertise, specialist equipment, knowledge and customer service within their chosen area of expertise.
Voted for by independent garages themselves, the Supplier of the Year Award celebrates the businesses that consistently go above and beyond to support the aftermarket.

- Choose which of the awards from the above list you want to enter (you can pick more than one). Make sure whichever award you pick to enter, is one where your business can demonstrate how it has consistently achieved the highest standards of excellence in this area.
- Click on the link to take you to the award entry form and from here you can see a list of what we’re looking for from each entry. Please try and include all or as many as possible of the points in the list of things we’re looking for within your entry.
- Please ensure that you include accompanying evidence with your entry wherever possible to demonstrate how you have successfully achieved the award criteria.You can do this either by uploading attachments to the awards entry form or by sending accompanying evidence by email to bigawards@rmif.co.uk – if you do this please ensure that you include your garage’s name and the award which you are applying for.
